Local Children’s Book Author and Illustrator to Present “Ron & the Partridge” at the Montgomery Center for the Arts | Culture & Leisure

MONTGOMERY — See the kingdom of northeast Vermont through the eyes of a painter and children’s book author this month at the Montgomery Center for the Arts.

Join author Chris Young and illustrator Avery Ellis at noon this Saturday, September 10 for a painting workshop and reading aloud from their new book, “Ron & the Partridge.”

Young, principal of North Country Union High School, transports readers to the NEK to remind them of the importance of relationships and connecting with the natural world. “Ron & the Partridge” follows Ron, a hunter who goes into the woods every day when he notices a partridge, who he quickly befriends.

Ellis, a graduate of Middlebury College and an avid outdoorsman, illustrated the book with beautiful watercolors, depicting the beauty of Vermont in the fall.

His book illustrations are on display throughout September at the Montgomery Center for the Arts, located at 2 Mountain Rd in Montgomery. The gallery is open from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday.

Admission is free, although donations for MCA’s ongoing restoration projects are accepted.
