Tom Kerridge: The Michelin-starred chef, cookbook author and TV presenter

As Tom Kerridge’s new show airs on BBC 2, Berkshire Live has discovered everything you need to know about the Michelin-starred chef.

The chef is probably best known for his popular TV cooking shows, as he owns a series of Michelin-starred gastro pubs based in Buckingham.

His latest TV series follows his attempts to save UK pubs during the coronavirus pandemic.

He has more cookbooks than you can imagine and he appears regularly in the parks across the way, serving local and national dishes.

Kerridge is renowned for his great food, amazing weight loss, and TV appearances, but who is he?

Who is Tom Kerridge?

Kerridge grew up in Gloucester and was initially a child actor, taking on minor roles in various shows, including Miss Marple’s 1991 Christmas special: They Do It with Mirrors.

Tom married his wife, Beth Cullen-Kerridge, in 2000.

Beth is a sculptor and her works are exhibited around the world, including a piece she commissioned for the Dubai Opera.

Tom lost 12 stones in five years by swimming, avoiding alcohol, and cutting back on carbohydrates.

He swears by his dopamine diet and has published a cookbook sharing his cheerful and heartwarming recipes.

The couple gave birth to their son, Acey, in 2015.

What about its ads?

Kerridge and his wife, Beth Cullen-Kerridge, opened The Hand and Flowers in Marlow in 2005. The restaurant was awarded a Michelin star later that year, and a second in 2012, becoming the first UK pub to do so. . The pub is still incredibly popular, with long waiting lists just to make a reservation.

Following the success of The Hand and Flowers, Kerridge opened a second pub in Marlow, The Coach, which also won a Michelin star in 2017.

He also owns a third Marlow business, The Butchers Tap, which houses both a butcher’s shop and a pub under one roof, making it an unforgettable experience for drinkers.

In 2018, Tom opened his first London restaurant at the Corinthia Hotel.

It is also known for its popular Pub In The Park, which started in Marlow and now hosts pop-ups in cities across the UK.

Last year Kerridge opened ‘The Bull and The Bear’ in Manchester.

What are his other shows?

Kerridge has appeared on our screens a lot over the past few years, so you might be wondering where you’ve seen him before.

After dropping an admirable 12 stone, Tom starred in his own 6-part series in January on BBC Two, aptly named “Lose Weight & Get Fit With Tom Kerridge”. He released a cookbook, of the same name, to accompany the series.

This is not the first time he has spoken about weight loss for the BBC, in 2017 he presented Tom Kerridge: Lose Weight For Good for BBC Two.

He has published a host of other cookbooks, including Dopamine Diet, The Hand and Flowers cookbook, and Tom Kerridge’s Proper Pub Food.

He is currently presenting Food and Drink, also for BBC Two.

In even more appearances on BBC Two, Tom co-hosted The Food Detectives with Sean Fletcher and Alice Roberts, and featured the first series of Bake Off: Creme de la Creme, in 2016.

In 2019, Tom drove across America on his Food Network UK show “Tom Kerridge’s American Feast”.
